Use this calculator to estimate how much you can save from energy efficient lighting. Use the sliders to enter values that reflect your situation, or just play around! KwH (kilowatt hours) is how your power bill is measured. A typical rate is around $.12 per KwH. You can find your rate on your latest power bill. New technology lighting costs a bit more than incandescent bulbs, but costs much less to use and lasts far longer. Typical household lights are 60 watts; use that or look at the light bulbs you actually use at home. Count the number of bulbs in your home or use 30, an amount a typical home would have. In every scenario, you will see that new lighting technology saves you money.
